The Mill is situated in a peaceful rural part of mid Wales, and we aim to keep it that way by by encouraging you to think about your travel arrangements when booking astay with us. We personally walk and cycle to and from local centres where possible, and would like to encourage you to do the same when you visit us.
Knucklas Railway Station (on the Heart of Wales line) is a little over a mile away from The Mill, and we can arrange to pick you and your bags up from the station. Don't forget that it is a request stop on the line, so make sure the conductor knows you wish to alight at Knucklas! It's best to arrange this pick-up before you travel, as mobile phones have limited network coverage here.
Travelling by bus There is a local bus available direct from Knighton (3.5 miles away from us) four times a day. For an up-to-date timetable you can look on the internet. If you travel to Knighton by bus from Hereford, Shrewsbury or other nearby towns and the times are not suitable for the Knighton - Lloyney connection, we can arrange to pick you up from the Knighton bus station on request. See Powysbus for more information on local buses.
Bicycle touring We encourage cyclists to come and explore the lovely countryside and peaceful roads in this part of Wales, where you can do everything from Green Lane cycling to strenuous hills and forest tracks. Have a look at Sustrans for moreinformation on, for example, the Radnor Ring. Come by train and we can transport your bags to The Mill whilst you cycle the mile or so to us along a flat and quiet road. We can provide locked storage for your bikes at night, and access to a workshop (not specific to bike maintenance) if needed.
Walking The original way to get around in these parts! Lots of our visitors come to walk part of Offa's Dyke, or the shorter and very quiet paths in the area. If you come to walk, why not consider coming by train or bus and using the same methods to travel to nearby areas for different walks? We offer muddy boot cleaning facilities, drying for wet clothes and a log burner in the guest sitting room for cooler nights.
Travelling by car We recognise that you may need to travel by car occasionally, and would encourage you to consider car-sharing if you are travelling with family or friends. If you do arrive by car, why not bring a cycle for travelling when you are here with us?
