We are delighted to tell you that we have been awarded a gold award for hygiene after a visit from our environmental health inspector. All B and Bs have to be inspected every other year, and we are told that not too many win the gold award, so we are very proud of ourselves as you can imagine. All our visitors can now be assured that we achieve the highest standards in health and hygene.

The week-end of May 9th and 10th sees the fourth year of the Tour de Presteigne and Green Wheelsshow and each year its International reputation grows so that it is now seen as THE most important date in the Electric Bike calendar. This year all the most important manufacturers will be showing bikes at the Industrial Estate in Presteigne which is an ideal venue for people to try out all the latest makes and models. There will be electric bikes on show from eZee, Powabyke, Wisper, Kalkhoff, E-motion, Urban Mover,PowerSmart, Airnimal, Nano, Heinzmann and lots more. Only 20 minutes from The Mill by electric bike, so come along and have a go!


On Saturday April 30th, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday Hampton Court offers an authentic tented village dating from medieval times. Stroll through and glimpse the day-to-day happenings from an era long past including; Medieval Surgeon, Spinners and Weavers, Armourer, Cooking/ Baking, Embroidery, Woodworkers Then pick a peaceful spot on the South Lawns to watch a Skirmish Battle.

Llanfair Waterdine and Lloyney are holding a Royal Wedding tea on Monday May 2nd in Everest Hall. Bring your own tea (hot and soft drinks provided) and home-made decorations and come and join us! 4.00pm onwards

Aardvark books at Branpton Bryan has a French Fea Market (brocante) this Bank Holiday week-end, on the 30th May, from 9am to 1pm. Books and bargains together-well worth a visit!

Hay Festival  started on the 26th May, and runs to the 5th June. The Mill is about 45 minutes from the festival site, down lovely country roads in this wonderful early summer. Have  a look at the extensive programme, and see if  there is something to tempt you.

Llanfair Waterdine Arts and Gardens Festival takes place on the 25th and 26th June. Art to view and for sale, sculpture, Book Art, concerts and lovely gardens to visit, all for the princely sum of £5. Tickets on the door from Everest Hall in the village.

The Mortimer Country Fair takes place at Aadvark books, Brampton Bryan, on the 9th July from 10am to 5pm.Over 50 stalls and lots of local food. Admission is £1 for adults, and children get free entry.

The Royal Welsh Show takes place at Builth Wells on the 18th-21st July. A really brilliant traditional agricultural show with lots to see and do.

Brecon Jazz festival takes place this year on Auguust 12th, 13th and 14th.There's a great line-up; follow the link to find out more.

Bryans Ground, is 3 acres of gardens arranged in rooms, that  have been growing since 1913. Furnished with follies and fragrant flowers, towers and topiary, pools and a potager, and paths to five acres of specimen trees on the banks of a river, on the border
with Wales. 

The garden is open from the 23rd April–18th July in 2011, on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 2–5 p.m.

Presteigne Festival takes place this year from the 25th to the 30th August. A real feast of music in this lovely mid Wales town.
Knighton Show and Carnival is a country show with lots to see and do, is on Saturday August 27th  2011. A good day out for the family.

Llandindrod Wells has its annual Victorian Festival from the 20th to the 28th August this year. Costumed and themed events, street entertainment and shows make up this unusual festival.

Kington Show is one of the biggest in Herefordshire, and takes place on the 10th September this year at The Ovals Farm, Kington. Lots to see and do at one of the last agricultural events of the year.

h.Art, or Herefordshire Art Week, takes place from September 10th to the 18th . There are full day tours to follow, individual open studios, and collective openings and exhibitions. Several of the artists are local, to us, so visit the h.Art website and buy your Christmas presents early this year!
